THE GOON
25th anniversary Statue
Continuing the celebration of the 25th anniversary of cartoonist Eric Powell’s The Goon, Dark Horse Comics has announced a brand new statue of the Goon himself. Sculpted by Chris Dahlberg with prototyping and paint by J.W. Productions, the polyresin 11-inch figure stands on a 10-inch base and shows the Goon wielding a wrench against two zombies attacking from the water beneath him.
The first version of the Goon appeared in the 1995 Out of the Cellar Comics book Best Cellars #1, then returned in his current form in a one-page preview in the June 1998 issue of Avatar Illustrated. This cameo is the one by which we measure the character’s anniversaries, meaning 2023 marked the official 25-year mark since his debut. In the last two and a half decades, Powell’s The Goon has grown its fanbase through its comedic but violent take on the lives of supernatural hunters like the eponymous character. Dark Horse took over its publication in 2003 and has been the home of The Goon ever since.
Pre-orders of The Goon 25th Anniversary Statue come with a San Diego Comic-Con 2023-exclusive The Goon enamel pin, a digital code for The Goon, Volume 1: A Ragged Return to Lonely Street, and a hand-numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Powell. Although the figure isn’t expected to ship until March-May 2025, there are only 250 total, so collectors will want to pre-order theirs sooner rather than later.
The Goon 25th Anniversary Statue is available exclusively through Dark Horse Direct. It retails for $219.99 and there is a limit of two (2) per customer.
